AKRON, OH – The Freedom BLOC extends our thoughts and prayers to the young man who was shot by Akron police earlier today and his family. As we await further details, our hearts are with his mother, siblings, and loved ones, who are undoubtedly experiencing unimaginable pain and uncertainty.

"Right now, I think what is important is for the community to go into our prayer closets and pray for this young man and his family. There is a mother, siblings, and possibly children who are hoping that their loved one makes it through this alive," said Rev. Ray Greene Jr., Executive Director of The Freedom BLOC. "We send all prayers to the family and the doctors who are operating on this young man as we speak."

We acknowledge that incidents of police-involved shootings are deeply traumatic for both the affected families and the broader community. We call for transparency, accountability, and a thorough investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to ensure that justice is served.

In the coming days, we encourage the Akron community to come together in solidarity, support the family, and demand meaningful action to prevent future tragedies. The Freedom BLOC remains committed to advocating for systemic change and justice for all.
